PAROOKAVILLE: Germany’s Biggest Electronic Music Festival

This year’s 5th edition of PAROOKAVILLE has catapulted the event into the international top league of music festivals, with 210,000 attendees celebrating peacefully for three days in their “City of Dreams”. The festival live stream reached more than 7.5 million people around the world.

The incredible success of Germany’s biggest Electronic Music Festival now has a new chapter. From July 19th to 21st 2019, for the fifth year in a row PAROOKAVILLE was Germany’s most liberating, most peaceful and altogether happiest spot. 210,000 attendees from more than 40 different countries streamed onto the festival site at Weeze Airport for three celebratory days in the incomparable festival city with superstars including Armin van Buuren, DJ Snake, Sven Väth, The Chainsmokers and Robin Schulz.

Following the smoothest of arrivals to the festival campsites for the overwhelming majority of attendees, the celebration kicked off on Thursday for PAROOKAVILLE’s “citizens” with the massive pre-party in Desert Valley and on the PENNY DJ Tower with artists including Laidback Luke, Blasterjaxx and Lost Identity. Then on Friday midday PAROOKAVILLE’s gates were opened and the path was clear into this unique city of freedom and inspiration.

The first small anniversary celebration was already a highlight for both the audience and the artists alike. The roughly 200 meter wide Mainstage was designed as an airship shuttle station with breathtaking 3D stage construction and state-of-the-art lighting design, to the clear delight of even the scene’s global stars like headliners Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike: “We were here for the very first PAROOKAVILLE and that was already mega. But what you can see now on the Mainstage is absolutely insane, simply fantastic!”

PAROOKAVILLE’s citizens rewarded the loving attention to design detail everywhere throughout the festival site by behaving magnificently with nothing but lunacy, love and pure joy. Every day of the festival was peaceful with no notable incidents, as has also been confirmed by the police. Tolerance and freedom were also embodied at the civil marriage ceremony on Friday for André and Tobias at the Warsteiner Parooka Church, officially witnessed by MC Fitti. All in all, there were more than 2,000 friendship weddings and ten marriage proposals over the weekend.

Bernd Dicks, Co-Organiser at Parookaville GmbH, described the elation of this amazing event by saying, “We are simply overwhelmed by these last few days! PAROOKAVILLE has developed at such an unbelievably fast pace, and the feedback we receive from the artists, attendees, partners and local authorities is just great. We will need a few weeks to process all of this!”

PAROOKAVILLE’s rapid growth has produced impressive statistics in every area. For example, our partner PENNY supermarkets’ largest store (2,400 m²) is a welcome pop-up each year, and this year it was joined by a second supermarket at Mellow Fields, both providing for the needs of the 40,000 campsite residents around the clock. Between them, the two stores served some 30,000 customers each day and sold 40,000 pizzas, 68 tonnes of ice cubes and approximately 13,000 bananas.

This year’s 5th PAROOKAVILLE also made a quantum media leap, with the Parookaville Livestream from the Mainstage and Bill’s Factory streaming live sets by EDM’s greatest stars to over 7.5 million people worldwide over the weekend. The German TV show ProSieben taff was broadcasting online all three days from its own mobile studio on the festival site with presenter Thore Schölermann hosting the event’s stars. And regional radio broadcaster 1LIVE expanded its live transmissions on all three days of the festival for a total of 18 hours on-air at PAROOKVAVILLE.

PAROOKAVILLE’s citizens can now begin a very special look back on their beloved city starting this coming Friday, July 26th. That’s the day the new retrospective PAROOKAVILLE series starts up with eleven episodes covering the whole broad, multifaceted magic of the “City of Dreams”, before ticket sales kick off for next year’s sixth edition of PAROOKAVILLE from July 17th to 19th, 2020.

“Top Partner” statements on the festival

Stefan Görgens – Regional Manager West, PENNY-Markt GmbH:

“PAROOKAVILLE is my first festival, and it’s simply mega! We’ve experienced the gratitude of our customers here in a close-up, heartfelt manner like almost nowhere else. Even when longer queues form in front of the store, at the cashiers or in front of our cold storage warehouse, they just celebrate queuing up! We’ve had great fun celebrating with our customers and I’m so proud of our employees! Their performance here, with these huge numbers of customers and market conditions that are anything but day-to-day, has been very impressive indeed.”

Nadja Gärtner, Music & Lifestyle Sponsoring Manager at Warsteiner:

“We’re proud that we’ve been an integral partner of one of Europe’s most spectacular music events since PAROOKAVILLE was founded. We’ve been celebrating weddings at the Warsteiner Parooka Church since 2016, and this year we held our first same-sex marriage. André and Tobias each said “I do”, making a clear statement in favour of marriage for everyone. Warsteiner stands for tolerance and freedom, and with the first same-sex marriage at the Warsteiner Parooka Church we’re showing our true colours for openness in the world and peaceful coexistence”.

PAROOKAVILLE 2020 dates: July 17th to 19th, 2020
